This movie shocked me, I sat down expecting a portion of cheesy horror, I ended up with an absolute bucket of cheese! Jennifer is a annoying daughter who hardly supports her friend, or her family but is for whatever reason absorbed in her parents relationship. She bails on her lonely mom to go to a sci-fi and horror convention with her friend Stacey, but spends the entire time mocking her and complaining to her about being there!
Until she discovers her mom is a werewolf! Her best friend is played by Diana Barrows, who in my opinion is one of the best side characters in whatever she is in I wish she got a starring role at some point. But I also have a weird taste for cheesy horror. I remembered this movie from my childhood, so this review is gonna be biased. I'm a person who enjoys a good campy monster transformation horror movie, and that's basically what you get here. Leslie, a housewife and mother of a teenage daughter, gets herself bitten on the toe by a romancing werewolf while she's out doing the weekend shopping.
Then there's a party and some raised voices and a bit of a scuffle. Once you adjust to the quality of the acting, you can have fun reimagining the movie done in modern times with current sfx and maybe getting a bit darker. It's silly and makes no apologies about it. And you don't have to apologize for watching it. Three stars, and put it in the Hollywood Goblet of Fire for a reboot. The teenage daughter, Tina, really impressed me. So that monkey, who wasn't in the credits on IMDB unfortunatly, that owl, and the emu were just trapped in the Harry Thrope's bedroom to watch him murder all those women on uncomfortable bed? Since when do wolves live in the jungle anyway. Also, why would a werewolf want to own a petshop of all things? He didn't seem very business savy considering the mom came in for a flea collar and he handed her like 5 boxes for free.
Overall, I am happy to have watched it. A house mother almost has an affair with a pet store owner, and becomes a werewolf. It's harmless enough, deals with some light domestic sexual themes, has one or two gags here and there, but was otherwise shot on the cheap, and has that muted music in the background when you don't want to call attention to the soundtrack.
